Engr. Ohere paid WAEC fees to over 1000 students in Kogi central

Over 1000 final year students of secondary schools in central senatorial district of Kogi state have benefited from 2023 WAEC scholarship programme funded by Engr. Abubakar Sadiku Ohere the central senatorial candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the forthcoming general election.

The education intervention programme which was facilitated by Ebira Youth Congress (EYC) was aimed at removing the burden of the fees from the shoulders of parents and as well putting smile on the faces of their children.

Addressing the beneficiaries during the distribution of cheques to the students selected across all the secondary schools in Kogi central senatorial district on Wednesday in Okene, the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Folashade Ayo-Ade Arike described education as the only legacy parents can bequeath to their children in order to make them useful and successful in the society.

Arike who was visibly happy with dancing steps over the intervention charged other well meaning individuals, politicians and corporate organizations in the state to emulate the kind gesture of Engr. Abubakar Sadiku Ohere the senatorial candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the February 25th general elections.

“I know the significant of education and the limitations people have when they don’t have the education. In a nutshell without education you can never achieve your dream no matter how rich you are and with education you can achieve even more than you expected.

“I am SSG of Kogi state today because of the education I acquired.  His Excellency is the Governor of the state today because of the education he had. Therefore it always gladden my heart when I see spirited individuals spending their hard earn money to promote education.

“It is a fact that government can not provide all the needs of its citizens but through this kind of intervention a lot of successes can be achieved that is why I am calling for more Engr. Abubakar Sadiku Ohere in the education sector. May God Almighty bless him abundantly” she stated.

While charging parents and relations of the benefiting students to reciprocate the gesture by voting enmass for the APC candidate, Arike admonished the students to be committed to their studies to enable them come out with good results to justify the assistance rendered to them.

In his address, the National President of EYC , Aliyu Ateiza Obiyo disclosed that each of the students are given a cheque of twenty six thousand naira (N26,000) to pay their West African Examination Council (WAEC) fees to enable them qualified for the examination.

Obiyo who described Engr. Ohere as a problem solver, said the politician has put smile on the faces of many people through his intervention in health, education and empowernment of youth and women.

The youth leader expressed optimism that the central senatorial candidate if given the mandate to represent the district at the national assembly more dividend of democracy would be delivered to the people and charged the electorate to support him to emerge as the next senator of the district.

He charged the students to use the scholarship for the purpose it was meant for, and applauded Engr. Ohere for extending hand of fellowship to the youth who are leaders of tomorrow.

In her goodwill message, the Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer, Kogi Enterprise Development Agency (KEDA), Hajia Rekiya Onaivo Sanni charged the students to take the advantage of the intervention to plan for their further studies at the tertiary institutions by ensuring that they come out with flying colours at the end of the examination.
