A group under the auspices of Peace Movement (PM) on Sunday called on the Kogi state governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo to intervene in the current leadership crisis that has bedeviled Kabba-Bunu All Progressive Congress (APC).
The group in a statement issued by its spokesman Comrade Joseph Tolu and made available to newsmen in Lokoja on Sunday, said Kabba-Bunu is one of the stronghold of the APC adding that the notable leaders in the area are not united.
According to the group, the issue of political leadership of the party in the local government has generated a serious crisis, noting that the Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones claiming to be leader of the party does not go down well with the people.
The statement said “In Kabba-Bunu today we have the likes of Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd), former member of Kogi State House of Assembly, Alfred Bello, former speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Prince Matthew Kolawole, Hon. Duro Meseko the national deputy publicity secretary, Segun Olobatoke, Ben Olowodola, Hon Jethro Funsho Oni, Mr Adebanji David Jimoh and Hon Nathaniel Ojo Taiwo
“Hon. Wemi Jones is claiming the leadership of the party in Kabba-Bunu and that should not be. The governor need to act fast to put everything in the right perspective especially now that council election is at hand.
“Governor Ododo is doing well and we don’t want any individual to rubbish his government because we the people of Kabba-Bunu will always follow the direction of the governor anytime, any day and anywhere.
“We were informed by those very close to the commissioner that he wanted to contest for House of Representative, but he said he may likely take over from Governor Ahmed Ododo after his tenure.
“This is somebody that when APC flagged off local government council campaign election he was completely absent and did not dim it fit to send a representative, even at that he still call himself leader of the party. He never contributed to the party or help anyone, then how can such person still believe that he is the leader,” he stressed.
The group called on the governor to call for Kabba-Bunu APC stakeholders meeting to finally put the issue at rest in the interest of the party.
