The Executive Director Finance and Administration Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority, Hon. Adeyemi Abidemi has called on Kogi State Government to step-up it’s effort in eradicating the incessant attacks and killings in Egbe, Yagba West local government area of the state.
Hon. Abidemi made the call while reacting to the killings of three policemen and two members of vigilante group who were on duties by unknown gunmen.
He said the call has become necessary considering the continuous attacks and killings of innocent citizens in the local government area and indeed in Okun land.
The Executive Director who stated that people of Egbe are tired of mourning their love ones as a result of senseless killings by unknown assailants, urged the state government to rejig it’s security strategies in order to protect the lives and property of Egbe and other communities in the state.
He said “the protection of lives and property is the responsibility of government. The incessant attacks and killings of our people must stop because insecurity in the community has started affecting the people of Egbe as farmers can no longer go to farm because of fear of being kidnapped and payment of huge ransom.
“Cases of kidnapping and killings has become rampart of recent. Therefore I am using this medium to appeal to government to deploy more security agents to the area because Egbe has been turn to theatre of death by gunmen who no longer allow our people to sleep with their two eyes close” he said.
