The immediate past Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Prince Matthew Yomi Kolawole has condemned some section of people claiming to be member of Okun Development Association who had visited President Ahmed Bola Tinubu demanding for governor.
Recalled that the group led by Professor Michael Ikupolati, visited the President at the Presidential Villa on Thursday saying they have been marginalized and the need for fair representation in governance of their state.
Speaking with Newsmen in Lokoja of Friday, the former Speaker noted that the main problem with the people of Okun was lack of unity among them.
He noted that visiting the president was not the solution, rather they must come together and support the ruling party in the state, the All Progressive Congress (APC) for the coming governorship election so that when the time comes they too can produce the next governor of the state.
According to him, those who presented themselves as Okun leaders does not represent the interest of the people.
He pointed out that the self-styled Okun leaders are not executive members of ODA, neither are they members of any organ of the party apart from being indigenes of Okun land
He therefore described their actions as a group of desperate of political friends who came together to hoodwink the President to believe that they are leaders of Okun Development Association.
He called on them to come home and work for the interest of Okun people and stop parading themselves as leaders of Okun Develolment Association.
Prince Kolawole stressed that the group’s visite to the President was a desperate attempt to hijack the responsibilities of the Okun Development Association from the elected ODA leadership under Barr.Mokikan.
He noted that the action of the selected people was a slap on the faces of the people of Okunland, adding that they were disappointed and embarrassed that some political friends can come together to impersonate a legal and popular association like ODA, all for Political and selfish reasons.
