Kogi State Governor His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has been commended for approving the sum of Seventy-Two Thousand , Five Hundred Naira (#72,500) as new Minimum Wage for Kogi Civil Servants.
Hon. Aturu Ojo the Special Adviser to the State Governor on Good Governance and Due Process gave the commendation while interacting with Journalists in Lokoja Monday on the outcome of the new minimum wage for Kogi workers
Honourable Ojo who described the Governor as a leader with utmost fear of God, said that the suspension of tax burden on the approved minimum wage for one year and his directive that the payment should commence this month (October) will go a long way in assisting the workers of the state.
“Honestly I am dumbfounded by the announcement of the new minimum wage in Kogi state because the approval of the #72, 500 is #2,500 higher than the one that was approved in July by the federal government for workers in both private and public sectors.
“I had been saying it that His Excellency is a God sent to wipe away the sorry of Kogi people especially civil servants. What happened today has proved me right and I am overwhelmed by this development” he stated.
While congratulating the workers for the bumper harvest in the new minimum wage, Honourable Aturu Ojo , urged them to redouble their effort to justified this kind gesture coming from the Governor.
“It is a fact that to whom much is given , much is also expected from him or her. Therefore Kogi workers should be committed to their work” he advised.
He praised the Chairman of Minimum wage Committee, Mr Elijah Evenemi and other members for completing the assignment within the shortest possible time.
