Youth under the aegies of Kogi youth Call For Awareness on Wednesday protested vehement against non availability of MTN network that has thrown residents into suffering and economic crisis.
The youth in their numbers blocked Ganaja road in Lokoja , Kogi state appealing to the state government to dialogue with the service provider with a view to resolve any difference that may exist that led to the shuting down of MTN facilities in the state.
Speaking, the convener of the protest Comrade Edicha Aso, lamented that in the last three week the people of the state especially Lokoja the state capital have been passing through untold hardship due to lack of MTN network.
“It is a fact that more than 80 per cent of the people resident in Kogi state used MTN network for all their transactions while some people solely depend on the network to feed his or her family, but regrettably in the last three weeks the service provider could not render service to its numerous customers in the state.
“And to make things worse the Glo and Airtel service providers people suppose to fall back to, their network most often fluctuates leaving the subscribers in a precarious situations
“We are begging and appealing to the state government and the MTN to come to our rescue by doing the needful because when two elephants are fighting , it is the grasses that suffered that is why we are calling on the government to dialogue with MTN to end the impasse between the two in the interest of the good people residents in the state.
“The current economic situation is enough for us and adding to it may not be palatable for the people. As I am talking now businesses are down and owners of businesses are facing headship” he stated
