The Secretary to Government of Kogi State (SGS) Dr. Folashade Arike Ayoade has called on parents and guardians to invest vigorously in the education of their children and wards.
Dr. Ayoade who made the call on Saturday during the 2025 graduation and prize giving day of Celebrity International School Lokoja, Kogi State said that the best legacy parents can bequeath to their children is quality education.
“As parents you should engage in legitimate businesses to support the education of your children and wards. You should sacrifice for your children even if it requires you to sell your jewelries, wrappers and other valuables to give them sound and quality education.
“Also bear in mind that if you trained your children, tomorrow at your old age these children will in turn take good care of you. They will take you to places you have never visited in your life” she said
Speaking further, the Kogi SGS advised parents to be wary of the kind of friends and peer mates their children keeps, saying the current society is full of social vices hence the need for parents to be watchful.
In his keynote address , the special guest of honour and general overseer of Revival House Church, Lokoja, Dr Halidu Abraham averred that children’s training is key to the fulfilment of their dreams and contribution to nation building.
Dr. Abdraham, who noted that training and educating children was full of challenges, charged parents to pay the price and sacrifice for their children no matter the difficulties.
“Each child God brought into the world is for a purpose and parents have a duty to ensure that they fulfil those purposes.
Only through perseverance and sacrifice can parents painstakingly give their children the necessary training and education for them to fulfil their dreams in life,” the cleric said.
Also in his address, the chairman, Parents Teachers Association (PTA) of the school, Mr Segun Salami, commended parents for their sacrifices and pains at ensuring that children receive the desired education and training in Celebrity International School.
While advising the SS III graduands, the PTA Chairman said “Please bear in mind that you are transiting into a new phase of life. It is often said that the higher you go, the tougher things become. The stage you are heading to now is very different from where you are.
“In the higher institutions, you don’t wear uniforms, and you will enjoy more freedom. There, you don’t fight, and you must make a certain grade for you to move to the next level. I urge you to take your studies more seriously by prioritizing them from your first day on campus. I wish you well”
