A group under the aegis of Good Governance Forum (GGF) based in Kogi State has urged political leaders in Kogi West to allow the senate position to shift to Lokoja/Koton-Karfe axis come 2023 in the interest of fairness, justice and equity.
This call was contained in statement signed by the chairman of the forum Suleiman Buba and secretary Adedeji Johnson which was made available to newsmen in Lokoja on Tuesday.
The statement said that the Okun political axis have enjoyed the red chamber for almost sixteen years, stressing that it is the turn of Lokoja/Koton-Karfe federal constituency to produce the next Senator of Kogi West Senatorial District.
According to the statement “The existing rotation principle in Kogi West zone involved three federal constituencies of
Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu, Lokoja/Kotonkarfe and Yagba.
“Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu has done two terms 2007-2015 and now proceeded to enjoy another eight years which suppose to be the chances of Yagba axis as arranged political in the interest of peace and together.
“It is a known fact that Lokoja/Koton-Karfe having had two successive terms in the Senate from 1999-2003, relinquish the seat voluntarily through adherence to the rotation agreement”
“Therefore , Okun land is already at the verge of occupying the Senate seat for sixteen good years and it is the turn of Lokoja/Koton-Karfe to produce the next senator in 2023″
