Over 1,500 residents of Adavi, Lokoja and Okehi local government areas of Kogi state have benefitted from a free medical outreach organized by Hayok Medicare Limited a non governmental organization in collaboration with the Federal Teaching Hospital, Lokoja.
The medical outreach which was aimed at complementing the efforts of Kogi state government in the area of quality healthcare delivery fell under the federal government’s 2024 capital project and channelled through the Federal Teaching Hospital, Lokoja.
Speaking at the occasion which took place from 24-27 September, 2024, one of the facilitators Mallam Sanni Abdulwahab disclosed that the programme recorded over 1,500 beneficiaries from across the three local government areas.
Mallam Abdulwahab who said that the programme was aimed at addressing the health challenges of the citizens , especially those that can not afford basic health care due to economic hardship, expressed happiness with the success of the programme.
Also speaking, another facilitator, Dr Kabir Atta disclosed that people with health challenges such as typhoid, malaria , hypertension, diabetes and deworming of children were treated free.
Dr Atta who also disclosed that people with eye problems were screened and issued corrective eye glasses expressed happiness for contributing his quota to the development of the state and the nation at large.
Mr John Isah a beneficiary of eye treatment spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries of the programme thanked Hayok Medicare for collaborating with Federal Teaching Hospital, Lokoja to provide the free medical outreach.
He assured that with the eye glass given to him his sight will improve.
