Kogi state government through the Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA) has trained Local Government Recovery Committees, Ministries, Departments and Agencies to restore the economic and social values that were lost during and after the COVID-19 pandemic that ravaged the entire world.
The state government has also commenced the implementation of Nigeria COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) programme in Kogi state.
Secretary to Kogi State Government Dr. Folashade Ayoade-Arike while declaring the programme open in Lokoja on Thursday, said that the training is aimed at building the capacity as well as equipping the participants with necessary roles to play in community development to enable the grassroots regain their loses during the covid-19 pandermic.
Ayoade-Arike who was represented by the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Yahaya Bello in the office of SSG Mr. Ephraim Amurawaiye, stated that the focus of the state government is on how to ensure that the programme is fully implemented in every local government area of the state.
“The training will abreast the participants the opportunity to know what is required of them in playing complementary roles on rural transformation and development” She said.
Earlier, the General Manager of the agency Mallam Dauda Momoh revealed that the NG-CARES programme is slated for two years in the state, noting that the first phase which has started will cover 11 local government areas of the state, saying will end in October 2022.
Momoh expressed optimism that the training will educate the participants on the rudiments of viable projects execution that would uplift the living standard of the rural populace.
The General Manager however commended community development officers in the three senatorial districts of the state for their task in ensuring effective supervision of projects within their communities on behalf of state government.
