Gov. Bello Awards Reconstruction of Township Roads Worth Over N4 Billion in Kogi

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello on Wednesday awarded the reconstruction of zone 8-Barracks-Zango- GYB junction dual carriageway to Messrs CCECC Nig Ltd at the cost of over N4.766 Billion

The Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Muhammed Onogwu who disclosed this shortly after the State Executive meeting in Government House , Lokoja said the council has also ratified and awarded the construction of the establishment of Material/Building Testing Laboratory (VIA E-Procurement) to Messrs Mathaus General Enterprises at the cost of over N59.67 Billion

The CPS stated that the approval by the State Executive Council was premised on the fact that there was the need to establish a standard testing laboratory to boost monitoring of quality delivery of road works, building structures by contractors or direct labour in the state.

According to him, other approvals by the State Executive Council included the construction of internal road networks at the Ajiolo-ojaji community secondary school in Dekina Local government Area, expansion of internal road networks at the college of health sciences, Idah, Idah Local Government Area and the expansion of internal road networks at the Zonal Hospital, Idah, Idah Local Government Area.

In addition, Kogi State Government has also approved and directed the ministry of health for the supply of additional medical equipment at the Zonal Hospital, Idah and Prince Abubakar Audu University Teaching Hospital, Anyigba.

The Chief Press Secretary disclosed that the Council had received a report on the ongoing construction of works at the Faculty of Medical and health sciences, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of computing and information technology, Senate building and University library of Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara.

He also revealed that the EXCO gave appraisal on the project inspections carried by His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello across the state in the last twelve days, saying the Council expressed satisfaction on the quality of jobs done in most sites visited and made some recommendations.

Recall , that the governor in the last two weeks has embarked on project inspections within the state and has been commended by Nigerians for the level of infrastructure development the state is witnessing recently

Also speaking at the press briefing, the state Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Wemi Jones disclosed that approval has been given for the procurement of 600 pieces of computers for the GYB Model Schools computer laboratories.

The commissioner said the approval was geared toward ensuring that the model schools were truly world-class in standards and in conformity with the global science and technological practices.
