WORKERS’ DAY : Ododo Salutes Kogi Workers, Promises Better Days

The Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has congratulated workers in the state on the occasion of Workers’ Day celebration by the labour movement around the world.

In statement by his media office in Lokoja, the APC standard bearer assured that his administration will accord priority to the welfare of workers in the state whom he described as the engine room of every government.

According to him “I recognize the role of workers, especially civil servants as the engine room of government at all levels and I will accord utmost priority to the welfare of workers in Kogi state if elected as Governor of the state.”

Ododo who promised to interface with workers in the course of his campaign commended the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress and all the affiliate unions in the state for supporting the present administration of Governor Yahaya Bello.

He solicited the support of labour unions in the state to make recommendations towards public sector reforms that will lead to improvements in productivity and enhanced reward system for workers in the state.

He assured that his public service reforms agenda will create a smarter, productive and a prosperous workforce in a dignified workplace irrespective of the station and grade level of every worker in Kogi state.

He further stated that he plans to take Kogi from a civil service state to an industrial and commercially more viable state if given the mandate in the November 2023 Governorship election.

‘We have seen what is possible in other climes and we have what it takes in terms exposure, human and material resources and we are glad the present administration has laid a solid foundation we can build on for the development of our state with a sense of urgency that our people are yearning for’, he said.
