Over 40 Journalists selected from both print, electronic and online media in Kogi state have been trained on “Data Journalism and Media Standards” by Stallion Times Media organisation.
The training which was sponsored by MacArthur Foundation was aimed at improving the knowledge of journalists in data journalism.
In his welcome address during the one day workshop that took place in Lokoja, Kogi State on Saturday, the Project Coordinator of the Non Governmental Organization, Isiyaku Ahmed told the participants that the workshop is focused on understanding how to identify, gather and explore a dataset for an investigative report, appreciate media standards in data journalism as well as understanding data presentation in appropriate visual formats.
He stated that the Workshop with its Theme: Get Involved, Dialogue and Improved Project was put in place to shape the skills of the participants on Data Journalism and Media Standards.
Charles Mbah in his lecture on data journalism, explained that it is not only about chat but the use of figures, pictures, visuals and videos to authenticate reportage of events and happenings around our immediate environment and worldwide.
