Kogi Govt Establishes Media Monitoring/Evaluation System, Lugard TV

Kogi State Government has established a media monitoring and evaluation system that will enables it track on-line and off-line coverage of government activities in the State.

The Special Adviser to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo on Media, Ismail Isah revealed this on Tuesday in Government House Lokoja while conducting members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) round the new Media Centre.

According to him, the comprehensive approach was meant to ensure that every story and features about the State government and Kogi State in general are captured and valued in monetary term.

The Special Adviser said that the monitoring system’s reports are presented daily, weekly and monthly to provide invaluable insights from coverage of the Government, Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

He pointed out that there is an experience and robust team that has a network where they monitor and track stories , saying “Every day we deliver a dashboard, on weekly basis, we do another dashboard and on monthly basis, we calibrate and present this report, which is real value for money.

“We also capture competitive reports about other states and use that to inspire our principal to see that this is what the other states are doing.

“We have set up an innovative Media platform called Lugard TV, an on-line audiovisual channel aimed at amplifying the state’s communication efforts. This will enables the government to reach citizens directly, complementing the support of traditional media practitioners” he explained.

Isah a Media Consultant and an experience Public Relations Practitioner noted that the Lugard TV will eventually become a state-owned television station for the promotion of government policies and programmes.

Earlier, Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists Kogi State Council , Comrade Ademu Seidu Haruna praised Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for appointing a versatile media professional in the person of Ismail Isah as his Special Adviser in charge of media.

He stated that the establishment of the media centre in Government House Lokoja depicts the worth of Ismail Isah as a valuable media expert, describing as an asset to Kogi State.

Comrade Haruna lauded the governor over his last Friday Supreme Court victory, adding that the stage is now set for him to focus on delivery of good governance to the people of Kogi State.

He called Kogi people irrespective of religion and political affiliations to support this present administration to enable the Governor delivered the expected dividend of democracy, noting that Governor Ododo has a lot of laudable programmes for the State.
