NEMA, SEMA Distributes Relief Materials To Victims of Fire Disaster, Wind Storm At Jamata, Karara in Lokoja LGA

The Kogi State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) in collaboration with National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has flagged off the distribution of relief materials to the affected victims of fire incident at Jamata and wind storms at Karara.

The items distributed include foodstuff, plastic buckets and other relevant materials, worth millions of naira.

In a bid to give hope and relief to the victms, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo ensured the prompt release and distribution of relief materials from the Federal Government through National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to complement the efforts of the State Government.

The Executive Secretary SEMA , Alhaji Mouktar Atimah while monitoring the distribution at karara , assured the victims that the current Administration led by Governor Ododo is working tirelessly to bring relief and succour to all Kogites.

He further stressed that SEMA has developed quick mitigation plans for any future emergency, and equally used the opportunity to sensitize those living in flood prone areas to move from lowland to upland in order to avoid last minute rush.

He appreciated the NEMA team for the seamless distribution of the relief materials to the victims.

The SEMA boss also thanked other critical stakeholders in attendance; Hon. Member Representing Lokojo/Kogi Federal Constituency, Hon Danladi Suleiman Aguye, Hon. Member Representing Lokoja 2 State Constituency, Hon. Tijani Ebaiye and Commissioner for Kogi State Ministry of Water Resources, Hon. Suleiman Yahaya

On his part, the Head of NEMA team, Mr Uche Nwazuronye Justine, sympathized with the victims and commended their orderliness during distribution.

He further assured that Government is committed to address citizens’ needs.

He thanked Executive Secretary SEMA and the Hon. Member Representing Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency, Hon Danladi Suleiman Aguye and other stakeholders in attendance for their steadfastness.

Responding, one of the beneficiaries, Mr Oladare Adeyola from Jamata, appreciated the Federal Government and State Government for the love demonstrated to them. He promised that Jamata residents will remain committed in supporting the current Administration.

In the same vein, one of the beneficiaries, Mrs Hawakulu Umar from Karara, appreciated the two sisters Agencies for their timely interventions.
