The Maigari of Lokoja and Chairman, Lokoja Local Government Traditional Council, HRH Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi 1V has charged Christian and Muslim communities in the state to continue living in peace irrespective of religious.
The charge was contained in a statement the Royal Father personally signed on Tuesday and made available to Newsmen in Lokoja, Kogi State capital.
He praised the unity and peaceful coexistence between the Christian and Muslim communities in Lokoja Emirate Council, adding that both religious groups truly embodies Lokoja’s reputation as the “Home of Peace and Harmony.”
The Royal Father said, “Lokoja emirate council is enjoying christians prayers, which you offer to God and your cooperation with your Muslim brothers in the Lokoja traditional council, especially at this festive season is very impressive and should be sustained.
“The unity between the Christians and the Muslims should be sustained in the interest of Lokoja local government area. The Christian religion is peaceful and adherents should follow the teachings of Jesus Christ.
“It is the peaceful coexistence of the people in Lokoja that makes it the home of peace and harmony.” he said
The monarch acknowledged the challenges the country is currently facing, including economic hardship, encouraged Christians to engage in fervent prayers for divine intervention
The Maigari also reminded Christian brothers to remember the true spirit of Christmas of giving, kindness, and compassion and urged them to extend hands of fellowship to those in their various communities who may be in need.
“Let us also remember the true spirit of Christmas – the spirit of giving, kindness, and compassion” he said.
