Ramadan, Lent: Renewed Hope Ambassadors Begin Rice Distribution in Kogi

 

The Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Kogi State have commenced the distribution of rice to support residents observing the Ramadan and Lenten fasting periods.

The exercise, which was flagged off on Sunday, March 22, 2026, in Lokoja, involved the allocation of rice to Local Government Coordinators for onward distribution to Muslim and Christian faithful across the state.

The initiative follows a directive by Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the nationwide distribution of food items to cushion the effects of the fasting season on citizens.

Speaking during the flag-off ceremony, the Kogi State Coordinator of the group, Hon. Abdulaziz Idris King, explained that the intervention is aimed at assisting vulnerable households and alleviating the pressure of rising living costs during the sacred period.

He added that the gesture would enable families, regardless of their economic status, to fully participate in the spiritual observances of Ramadan and Lent.

Hon. King expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for what he described as a compassionate and people-oriented initiative, reflecting the administration’s concern for the welfare of Nigerians.

He also commended Hope Uzodinma, Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors and Governor of Imo State, for his leadership in coordinating the programme nationwide.

The coordinator further lauded Ahmed Usman Ododo for his continued support towards the success of the initiative in the state.

He equally acknowledged the role of Umar Tanko Al-Makura, the North Central Zonal Coordinator of the group, in ensuring smooth implementation across the region.

In his remarks, the Coordinator of Olamaboro Local Government Area, Comrade Hassan Ayuba, described the intervention as timely, noting that it comes at a period when many Nigerians are grappling with economic challenges.

According to him, the initiative demonstrates that the President is mindful of the current realities facing citizens.

Ayuba assured that the distribution process would be carried out equitably to ensure all segments of the local government benefit from the gesture.

Similarly, the Coordinator of Ajaokuta Local Government Area, Mr. Muhammed Yusuf, praised the programme, describing it as an effective strategy for bridging the gap between government policies and grassroots communities.

He stressed the importance of local coordinators in reaching citizens who may not have access to digital platforms or conventional media channels.

Also speaking, the Coordinator of Lokoja Local Government Area, Hon. Adams Bala Justice, who represented Kogi West Coordinators, said the initiative reflects a deliberate effort by the federal government to connect directly with the people through grassroots structures.

He urged residents to continue supporting the current administration at both federal and state levels, noting that sustained backing would ensure the delivery of democratic dividends.

The Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Kogi State reaffirmed their commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu, emphasizing that the initiative continues to provide relief and renewed optimism for Nigerians.

It will be recalled that President Tinubu recently directed the group to commence the nationwide distribution of rice to assist citizens observing the Ramadan and Lenten fasting periods.
