ASUU FUL Chapter Passes Confidence Vote on VC Lokoja Varsity

The Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) FUL Chapter has passed a vote of confidence on the leadership of the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Lokoja, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi for his numerous achievements recorded for the institution within one year in office.

Chairperson , FUL chapter of ASUU Dr Joshua Silas disclosed this shortly after the first 2022 congress of the union held at Adankolo campus of the institution.

Dr Silas while recounting some of the achievements of the Vice Chancellor that qualified him for the vote of confidence , said the recent ranking of the institution as first among the nine universities established by former President Goodluck Jonathan has brought confidence that the university has future in academic excellence.

“One of the achievements of the Vice Chancellor is the recent ranking of the university recorded through the collaboration of the staff of the institution.

“Also the Vice Chancellor was able to reconciled the wary factional groups in the university and this has greatly assisted the institution to achieve the present development in the institution.

“He has also through his concerted effort approved the establishment of medical college which will commence this year after resource verification and the re-accreditation of 29 programmes of the university.

“There are roads which the Vice Chancellor has facilitated at the permanent site in Felele to ensure that the staff of the institution have access to their place of work” he stated.

Speaking further the Dr Silas revealed that the Vice Chancellor has done a lot in ensuring that the welfare of both academic and non academic staff are on his priority list , saying the staff have started enjoying welfare packages that in the past eluded the workers.

He therefore pledged the support of the union and assured that the ASUU Federal University Lokoja chapter would play its roles in ensuring that the existing unity and peace struggled to achieved by the Vice Chancellor is being sustained to pave room for more development of the citadel of learning.
