The Executive Director, Conscience for Human Rights and Conflict Resolution (CHRCR) Idris miliki Abdul has condemned in totality the Thursday bomb explosion that rocked Okene town ahead of President Muhammadu Buhari’s projects commissioning in Kogi state.
The condemnation was contained in a statement issued by the Executive Director of CHRCR which was made available to newsmen in Lokoja on Friday.
He charged Kogi State Government to constitute an independent investigation panel on the Okene bomb explosion with a view to unravel the perpetrators of the heinous and ugly act against humanity.
The Rights Activist who described the situation as worrisome, unfortunate and condemnable, sympathized with the families of the innocent people that lost their precious lives as a result of the incident.
“It is regrettable that such act could take place when the President was officially visiting the state which make the situation more worrisome. Again this development is frightening as we have less than 60 days to the 2023, general elections in Nigeria” the statement said.
He call on security agencies in the state to put all measure in place, to avoid such unfortunate and embarrassing circumstances, saying such incident is capable of tarnishing the good image of the state and its people.
