The Kogi West Campaign Organization of Hon. Sunday Karimi under the platform of All Progressives Congress has described the outcome of the last Saturday’s National Assembly elections held in the district as the representation of the will, wishes and aspirations of the good people of Kogi West.

The Campaign organization stated this while reacting to a foul cry of the People Democratic Party (PDP) describing it as the last kick of a dieing horse, saying the last weekend’s National Assembly Election held across the district was the most freest, peaceful and credible elections the district has ever witnessed.

The Director General of the campaign organization, Chief David Aiyedogbonlp stated this in a statement he personally signed and made available to newsmen in Lokoja on Wednesday.

He praised the innovations INEC introduced into the elections particularly the use of technology, noting that the effort has made the elections credible.

He expressed satisfaction with the use of the BVAS technology, saying it allowed the wishes of the people of Kogi West Senatorial District to prevail.

The Campaign Council described the positive attestations and remarks by the national and domestic observers that witnessed the election as to it fairness and credibility as unprecedented.

The APC lamented that the PDP is only proving to be a bad losers in an election adjudged as one that met maximum adherence to democratic and electoral norms and urged the PDP to accept the defeat as one that was well deserved in view of the preparations, capacity and acceptability of Hon. Karimi.

The statement also urged the political parties that participated in the general elections to join hands with the APC in building a virile Kogi West Senatorial District.

The Director General, said in the history of election across the Kogi West Senatorial district, never has the district experience such large turnout of electorate for an election.

He also praised the people for their orderliness that has continued to elicit commendations from across the state for their peaceful democratic conduct.

The campaign organization urged the opposition PDP to in the spirit of sportsmanship, without shame of the defeat that hit them, accept the collective wishes of the people of Kogi West as displayed on Saturday 25th February, 2023 as a choice of light over darkness made by the people.

The APC Campaign organization described as unfortunate the unsubstantiated allegations by the expired opposition as neither here nor there, lamented that having signed the results, accepted the outcome of the election, with the Director General Campaign of the Tee Jay Yusuf, Hon. Hassan Salau calling to congratulate Hon. Karimi on the victory, said it is an after thought for the party to relocate to Abuja, with the intent to maliciously undermine the collective wish of the people of Kogi West by issuing unsubstantiated claims and allegations.

“Beginning from Yagba West to Kotonkarfe. The People of Kogi West were unanimous in the choice of the APC Senator Elect, Hon. Sunday Karimi. His antecedents as a two time former lawmaker, with impacts that has remained solid in the minds of the people, served as the impetus that made thousands of the people of Kogi West electorate to identify with his Senatorial aspirations.

“The massive turnout of electorate culminated in the highest number of votes scored by Hon. Karimi at the polls, remain a watershed, only serves as payback time for good ideas and product, made Hon. Karimi to win in all the seven LGAs of the district”.

“While we have for the umpteenth time repeatedly before the poll shouted it aloud and clear that Kogi West is APC, the antecedents, legacies, positive impacts and the quality traits of Hon. Sunday Karimi to make himself accessible and in fulfilling promises served as the elixir that made the people vote for him overwhelmingly.

“We wish to therefore use this medium to urge the opposition PDP to bury their heads in shame, accept their defeat in good faith, as the candidature of Hon. Karimi is an idea who’s time has come and made his victory unstoppable. In all intent and purposes, the emergence of the Senator Elect would no doubt open up a new frontiers of socio economic development for the people of Kogi West, clamour that is long over due.

“It is however unfortunate that like the average politician, the PDP candidate who was rejected on all fronts, is now crying foul in an election that the people of Kogi West didn’t mince words, but rejected him and the PDP outrightly. We are therefore urging him to accept the people’s verdict as no amount of crying wolf where there is none will change the leopard skin. He was never a match to the choice of Hon. Karimi” he stated.

The DG Campaign of Karimi Campaign organization also urged the PDP to accept defeat, said the election was free, fair and devoid of violence.

Hon. Tee Jay was defeated in his federal constituency, but manage to lead in his local government, Kabba Bunu with 23 votes.

“The people of Kabba Bunu/Ijumu which you represented in the House for 12 years rejected him at the Senate poll”.

While pointing out that the PDP across Kogi State was randomly rejected during the weekend’s election, the defeat of the party in Kogi West therefore could not have been a fluke, particularly that no where in the State did the opposition party win any of the National Assembly seat as Kogi people, particularly the people of Kogi West will not want to return to Egypt.

We therefore call on the good people of Kogi West to disregard the verbal vituperation of the PDP and its candidate from crying over split milk, especially when they have no explanations to justify the dollars spent in trying to induce voters which didn’t yield results.

“Reason they have resorted to name calling rather than accept the fact that the outright rejection of Hon. Tee Jay Yusuf and the PDP is because bad and rotten products don’t sell, we make bold to State that Hon. Sunday Karimi represents the wishes and aspirations for a prosperous Kogi West which will be achieved through effective and quality legislation that the Senator Elect will be bringing to the National Assembly”
