Hoodlums Suspected To Be Supporters Of Muri Ajaka Allegedly Attacked Gov. Bello’s Convoy – Information Commissioner

The state commissioner for Information and Communications Kingsley Fanwo has berated the supporters of Muritala Yakubu Ajaka the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) for blocking and attacking the convoy of the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello while returning to the state from Abuja.

In a press statement issued by the Commissioner of Information, Kingsley Femi Fanwo said the attack on the governor took place near the Naval Base, few kilometres from Lokoja where the convoy of Muritala Yakubu Ajaka, sighted that of the Governor and blocked the road while some of his armed thugs started shooting sporadically at the convoy of the Governor.

According to him, ” a ‘Tundra’ branded vehicle with the logo of the SDP and with SDP flags also blocked the Governor’s vehicle and occupants were armed with rifles and short guns. On noticing the strange happening, the Governor left the scene immediately”.

The statement further said security aides and other aides attached to the Governor sustained some degrees of injuries and were rushed to hospital for treatment.

He however urged the people of Kogi State to remain calm as security agents are in full control to ensure the arrest of the hoodlums behind the attack.

He also assured that the State Government will ensure that law and order are maintained as the attackers will be brought to justice.

The Governor appealed to all APC member not to involve in any reprisal attack as insecurity from any quarter will be met with stiff penalties.

Similarly, the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Alhaji Muritala Yakubu Ajaka also alleged that it was the Governor’s convoy that attack him and members.
