Ahead of November 11 gubernatorial election in Kogi state a political group under the auspices of Ododo Consolidating Movement, (OCM) has embarked on Sensitization Campaign to create Election Awareness on Voters’ Education.
The group disclosed this on Saturday at press conference held in Lokoja, Kogi state.
In his speech , the Director General II of OCM, Oyibo Yaqub Suleiman explained that the group is made up of all tribes whose interest is to deliver on the mandate of Alhaji Ahmed Ododo as the next elected Governor of Kogi State come November 11th, 2023.
Suleiman noted that the press conference will also avail them the avenue to endorse Ododo as the candidate to follow, support and work for, during the election.
Speaking on the theme of the press conference , Comrade Sadiq Ibrahim noted that the group, saw the need to embark on voter education after carrying out thorough research across the three senatorial districts.
He added that from the research findings, it became notable that there was a need to educate the electorates on the need to be peaceful and law-abiding before, during, and after the November 2023 election.
Sadiq stresses that there will be a need to mobilize the public to participate massively in the democratic process and to also emphasize the need to be non violent during the election .
According to him, there will also be a need to send messages to politicians to mobilize and sensitive their supporters on the need for peaceful elections and the process of voting.
While adding that the group will also sample public opinion on their expectations from the government and the electoral body, he stressed that they will ensure to contact all relevant security agencies of the federal government to maintain law and order.
