Ahead of November 11, governorship election in Kogi State, the State Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello has assured that the All Progressive Congress (APC) would play the game by it’s rules to sweep clean all the votes that would be casted on election day.
Governor Bello stated this at government House Lokoja at a dinner organised to honor the Members of the Kogi State National Campaign Council for the State Governorship Election who are in the State for the official inauguration of the Committee.
The governor who was optimistic that the ruling party would win the election stated that since 2015 APC has been increasing in its membership and supporters, noting that the 2019 election the party performance in all the election conducted was ninety five percent , assuring that the forthcoming election APC will virtually sweep all the votes.
He maintained that there is no opposition parties in Kogi and urged members, and supporters of the party not to take thing for granted , saying that the state government under the APC has instill peace, security , unity and development in the state that will endear the electorate to vote for the party willingly.
Governor Yahaya Bello who officially presented the Kogi State APC Governorship candidate Usman Ododo and the running mate Oyibo Salifu Joel to the national chairman of the party Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje described the duo as a level headed person who are committed to the ideals of the ruling party.
He assured that the candidate and his running mate by virtue of their experience and pedigree they will consolidate on achievements and perform better than his administration.
In his remarks the national chairman of APC Abdullahi Ganduje said they were not in Kogi state to push the party to victory, describing Governor Yahaya Bello as a goal getter who has the capacity and capability to win any election for APC.
“Governor Bello has demonstrated his capacity in many election both in Kogi and other states across the country and I am very sure that , that capacity is still for him to win the election even without the support of any body.
“We are only in Kogi State as a formality because we strongly believe that Governor Bello is equal to the task when it comes to election and the multitude of people that troops out at the boarder of Kogi, Gegu Baki and Koton-Karfe to welcome us is usual reason that gave us the confidence that APC will win overwhelmingly the November 11 governorship election” the APC national chairman said.
He appealed to APC members and supporters to go into the election as a formidable entity to sweep clean the election as demonstrated in the last presidential , national and state house of assembly elections in Kogi state.
The national chairman told the party faithfuls that previous elections in the state APC scored ninety five percent and encouraged them to improve the performance to ninety nine percent in the forthcoming governorship election.
In his speech the APC flag bearer Usman Ododo said the November governorship is unique as it is the first election that will be conducted under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the national Chairman of the party Abdullahi Ganduje, noting that Kogi State would surely be delivered to APC owing to the leadership style of Governor Yahaya Bello in the last over seven years.
He assured that the APC campaign in Kogi State will be issue base, saying Governor Bello has done a lot for the state that qualified him to seek another mandate for the party.
