—-Describes Him A Silent Achiever

The Rector , Kogi State Polytechnic Lokoja, Dr Salisu Ogbo has described the Vice Chancellor of Federal University Lokoja Professor Olayemi Akinwumi as silent achiever and a peaceful leader who had brought a lot of development into the institution.

Ogbo stated this on Saturday during the 60th birthday and public presentation of a festschrift in honour of Professor Olayemi Akinwumi who had clocked sixty years.

The Rector who was the Chairman of the occasion, also described the Vice Chancellor as a humble enigma who used his simplicity and human relation to advance the cause of the university through all inclusive governance.

He commended him for been able to unite the staff of the institution.

“We all know how the staff of the institution used to be before Professor Olayemi Akinwumi took over the mantle of leadership of the university, I am glad to say without mincing words that peace, unity and common understanding is the order of the day in FUL today.

“The Vice Chancellor is an example every human being will like to emulate. He is a devoted Christian but was able to facilitated the construction of a Juma’at Mosque for Muslims at Felele campus of the university” the Rector said.

While commending him for demystifying leadership in the university, Dr Ogbo urged the staff and students of the institution to support the Vice Chancellor to enable him achieve more for the university.

In his goodwill message the Provost College of Health Science FUL, Professor Mike Ogirima described the Vice Chancellor as a selfless leader who has exhibited exemplary leadership skills and a commitment to fostering a conducive learning and working environment for staff and students of the institution.

“Under his administration, the university has witnessed remarkable progress in terms of academic excellence, introduction of new courses, research initiatives and infrastructural development. In fact he is a man of honour” the Provost said.

Responding , the Vice Chancellor Professor Akinwumi, said his achievements in the university was a collection of joint effort from all members of the staff and solicited for more support to enable him take the institution to another level of development.

He expressed gratitude to the organizing committee for honouring him with a book launch , saying their effort will never go un-notice.

Highlight of the occasion was the launching of a book in honour of the Vice Chancellor titled “Intergroup Relations, Strategic and Security Studies : The Future of Higher Education in Africa” which was reviewed by Provost , National Defence College Abuja, Professor Adam Ahmed Okene.
