The Executive Director of Dual Care and HIV Prevention Initiative, Roseline Alabi has advocated for continuous funding of the Kogi State Agency for the Control of Aids to sustained the sensitization on the prevalence of the HIV/Aids virus.
Mrs Alabi made the call during her usual monthly outreach to persons living with the virus, also distributed foodstuffs, condiments, sanitary pads in a programme held in her office in Lokongoma, Lokoja.
The Executive Director noted that people are now increasingly living their lives with less information on the dangers of HIV/Aids, stressing that the disease is still rampant.
She said the increased rate of mother to child transmission of HIV/AIDS virus is becoming worrisome, appealed that if KOSACA is supported with funds, it would enable the agency carry out sensitization down to the grassroots area of the State.
Mrs Alabi expressed gratitude to the individual who contributed immensely in various ways towards making sure people affected by HIV/AIDs are supported with nutritional support for the month.
She described adequate feeding for persons affected by the virus as paramount to enable the drugs given to them freely to be effective, urged other well meaning individuals to join hands in providing nutritional support for victims.
She called for more support from the people and the government at large adding that it is expensive to cater for persons living with HIV/Aids, but assured that such support will go a long way in helping them achieve greater efficiency when they take their drugs.
She urged those living with the virus to take proper treatment and the necessary vitamins to enable them live healthy.
The Executive Director appreciated the state government, the State House of Assembly and other well-meaning individuals like the Secretary to the State Government who have supported Dual Care Initiative financially with food items to support persons with HIV/AIDS.
Highlights of this months nutritional support was the giving of cash, sharing of rice, beans, sanitary pads, condiments like salt, maggi, amongst others.
