The Chairman and Founder, Enemona Josh Foundation Gabriel Onoja, has felicitated with Nigerian women as they celebrate the annual International Women’s Day on Monday, March 8, 2022.
Gabriel, in a statement he personally signed and made available to journalists in Lokoja, described the theme of this year’s celebration :”Choose to Challenge”, as apt in reminding the society of the pivotal roles women play in the family and nation-building as well as the need to pay attention to the challenges confronting them.
With the theme for International Women’s Day, “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow”, Gabriel Onoja said “Women play indispensable roles in private and public lives and deserve full support and respect of society for those roles”.
“Our women also deserve support and encouragement to participate without discrimination or inhibitions in governance and public affairs in general. Our public policies should therefore deliberately seek to get the best from them for the peace and progress of our country.”
According to him, the recent rejection of gender bills at the National Assembly should be reconsidered affirming that women will always promote and defend the rights and interests of the Nigerian child if properly empowered with all enabling laws.
Gabriel reiterated his foundation’s commitment in providing palliatives and other assistance needed for widows and the poorest members of the society, with a call on governments, spirited individuals and privileged members of the society to consider bettering the lots of women.
