Hajia Sefinat Ahmed Usman Ododo receives Barbara Eleojo Jitoboh Foundation award for her tireless efforts in protecting the Rights of Women Youth and vulnerable in the state.
Hajia Usman Ododo received the honor at the commemoration of the International Day For The Elimination of Violence Against Women, Youth and Children, put together by the state First Lady recently in Lokoja.
Presenting the award, the founder of the Foundation, Chief Hon. Barbara Eleojo Jitoboh, described the First Lady as the pillar of women emancipation, adding that women of Kogi state are receiving much recognition and attention in the current administration under the supervision of the first Lady.
She eulogised the governor’s wife of being the mother of all who always show compassion and taken personally on issues that have to do with Women youth and Children.
Hon. Chief Mrs. Barbara Eleojo Jitoboh, who joined the First Lady along with other prominent women and figures to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and youth. emphasized the need for proactive measures to end violence against women and children, citing the devastating impact of Gender-Based Violence on the society.
She however urged governments at all levels to take immediate action to eliminate all forms of violence against women and children.
She also reiterated her foundation and the One Kogi Project determination to continue to drive initiatives that promote the advancement of humanity, particularly women’s and children’s rights.
“Barbara Eleojo Jitoboh Foundation’s commitment to this cause is inspiring, and our foundation’s work is crucial in promoting a peaceful society.
“When a woman is being violated, society remains unstable, all hands must be on deck to eliminate violence against women and children,” she added.
Responding, the Kogi state First Lady, Hajia Sefinat Ahmed Usman Ododo, described the award as moral booster to daily activities as First Lady of the state.
She further urged the Barbara Eleojo Jitoboh Foundation to continue with its good job in ensuring the safety of women and children not only in Kogi State, but Nigeria in General.
While commending the founder of Barbara Eleojo Jitoboh Foundation and One Kogi Project, Mrs Jitoboh for galvanizing women and youths of the state, Hajia Ododo emphasized that protection of women and children against domestic violence is non-negotiable.
