Groups urges EPA national body to intervene in the leadership crisis rocking Lokoja EPA Branch

A socio-cultural group under the auspices of Egbira Avaibe Youth Association Lokoja has called on the national body of Egbira Peoples Association (EPA) to wade into the crisis rocking EPA Lokoja branch over leadership tussle.

President of the group, Comrade Ayodeji Ubaida who made the call at a press conference held in Lokoja on Monday , lamented that some few members of the association Lokoja branch were busy fanning the ember of crisis through affirmation of new executives of the association without following due process as enshrined in EPA constitution.

According to him “The selection and affirmation of four members of the association as the new executive body of the association has run foul of the constitution of EPA chapter 8 that categorically spelt out that the tenure of executives is four years and no second term.

“We wondered how can few people affirmed four members as executive body out of the 12 members without conducting election as stated in the constitution of the association.

“We are calling on the national president of EPA Dr. Godwin Oyibo to as a matter of urgency wade into the crisis before it degenerate into crisis of high magnitude. The national body should call them to order. We are also urging the general public to disregard this unconstitutional announcement of Lokoja EPA executives.

While stressing that the association stand for peace and unity, Comrade Ubaida averred that any issue that will cause acrimony and crisis should always be avoided in the interest of peace.

Comrade Jibril Yahaya the president of Egbira Grand Alliance who also spoke at the press conference, condemned the action of the four members that were made executives of the association, cautioning them not to allow themselves to be use as agents of destructions in EPA Lokoja branch.

Other groups that lend their voices at the press conference are Egbira Women Association Lokoja led by Mrs Abdulrahim Sabdat and Central Senatorial District Forum Lokoja also led by Comrade Daudu Jimoh Ozi Salami.
