Hon. Emmanuel Obaro, the lawmaker representing Yagba East, has unveiled a detailed scorecard of his stewardship between 2023 and 2026, highlighting projects, donations, legislative efforts, and community interventions spanning infrastructure, security, education, economic empowerment, and oversight.
The report outlines ₦20 million worth of constituency projects executed across the ten wards in 2025, alongside multiple water, education, and community development initiatives aimed at improving living standards in the area.
Under infrastructure and water interventions, the lawmaker listed the construction of four lock-up shops at Itedo-Makutu, Oja-Oba, renovation of classroom blocks in Makutu, and a Universal Basic Education-supported rehabilitation of classrooms at Takete Isao Primary School.
Other projects include a pavilion at Ijowa Alaofin, drainage works at Itedo-Makutu Open Field and near Government Lodge at Second ECWA, as well as a solar-powered borehole at Idofin valued at ₦1 million.
The scorecard also indicates that Obaro facilitated a federal motorized borehole in Ward 08, Makutu, and oversaw the repair of seven boreholes across the Isanlu axis, in addition to providing a generator set to enhance water supply in Ward 02, Ife-Olukotun.
In the area of security, the lawmaker donated two Sharon buses and five motorcycles to support local operations.
Financial interventions include ₦1 million to kick-start Civil Defence activities in Yagba East, ₦1.5 million for security operations in Ponyan and Ejuku, and ₦500,000 for logistics support to hunters in Ward 08.
Fifteen hunters were further engaged on a monthly stipend of ₦25,000 each, with ₦2.25 million paid upfront for six months beginning February 2026.
Additional support was extended to Ilafin and Odogbe communities, alongside food supplies and relief materials, while ₦200,000 was provided for medical treatment of victims of security incidents.
On economic empowerment, the lawmaker disbursed ₦20 million as start-up capital to artisans, farmers, and small businesses on June 26, 2025, with another 100 beneficiaries receiving ₦50,000 each.
Ward-based interventions saw ₦4.5 million allocated to youths in Ward 08, ₦3 million to Ward 06, and ₦2.5 million to small businesses in Ward 08 in 2026.
Community groups and associations also benefited from ₦4.5 million support, while Ife-Olukotun and Ilafin axis received targeted development funds. Additional interventions include ₦1 million support to the National Union of Road Transport Workers, a ₦410,000 student support fund, and provision of sewing machines for vocational training.
In education, Obaro sponsored free JAMB registration for hundreds of students across multiple years and provided computer sets to St. Joseph’s Primary School, Itedo-Makutu.
Student unions and youth groups also received financial assistance to boost educational development.
The scorecard further highlights humanitarian efforts, including a two-day free medical outreach valued at ₦2 million, direct cash donations to constituents, and seasonal interventions during Christmas and Ramadan.
Widows and women groups received food, cash, and other relief materials, while cultural festivals and community events across the constituency attracted financial backing.
Relief support was also extended to victims of the Ejuku rainstorm in March 2026, while the document notes that ₦15 million was spent on personal assistance covering medical bills, school fees, and other social needs.
On political and administrative engagement, Obaro reported financial support for party structures, ward leadership, and voter mobilization efforts, alongside facilitation of employment opportunities across public and private sectors. He also approved ₦2 million to offset loans owed by teachers in Yagba East.
The lawmaker’s oversight activities covered key government institutions including the Ministries of Rural Development and Energy, and Housing and Urban Development, as well as agencies such as the Kogi State Electricity Regulatory Commission and RAAMP.
Industrial visits were conducted to major firms including Dangote Cement Plc, Obajana, and West African Ceramics Ltd, Ajaokuta.
Legislatively, Obaro sponsored four bills, two of which—Urban and Regional Planning Repeal/Re-enactment Bill, 2023, and SHOAT College of Health Technology Bill, 2024—have been passed and are awaiting assent.
Two others, including the Chiefs Law Amendment Bill, 2023, and Tourism Development Bill, 2024, remain under consideration.
He also moved several motions addressing infrastructure and security concerns, including the Omiparakun Bridge rehabilitation, security surveillance, rainstorm relief, erosion control in Ponyan, and a 73-kilometre road construction proposal, all of which were debated and adopted.
The report described the interventions as part of Obaro’s commitment to “measurable service delivery” and grassroots development across Yagba East.
