Vigilante commander, Alhassan killed in Kogi



One of vigilante commanders in Kogi State, Alhassan Alhassan was shot dead in a gun battle between the vigilante and hoodlums suspected to be kidnappers.

The deceased and other members of the vigilante engaged kidnappers in a forest around Tanahu community in Gegu-Beki under Kogi Local Government Area.

The operation was carried out on Tuesday, a member of the team confirmed the incident, saying “Alhassan led his men to face the criminals who have been terrorising locals in Aduho and Tanahu communities.

“The gallant commander was hit in the abdomen and died within a short period. The body of Alhassan was taken to hometown, Toto in Nasarawa state, and buried in line with Islamic injunction.

Onyiwo of Gegu-Beki, Alhaji Mohmmed Abba Suleiman while reacting to the incident , lamented over the death of the Alhassan who he described as a brave man that has led a number of successful operations in the local government area.
