Ozomata urges youths to show interest in leadership

Kogi State Coordinator of the APPEALS Project and frontline aspirant for the Okene/Ogori- Magongo House of Representatives seat in the 2023 elections, Dr. Abdullahi Ozomata has urged students and young people in Nigeria to show more interest in leadership.

Dr. Ozomata spoke as a guest speaker at the 2022 Ebira Day celebration organized by the National Association of Ebira Students (NAES) at the Kaduna Polytechnic in Kaduna over the weekend.

Represented by Dr. Muhammed Rabiu, Ozomata who spoke on the topic: Students’ Unionism and the Societal Leadership Question noted that student’s unionism is a veritable means of leadership recruitment all over the world and enjoined the students to be politically active by identifying with political interests, becoming active participants and aspiring for leadership positions as a way of contributing to the development of the society.

Dr. Ozomata who expressed reservation about the current political situation in Nigeria in which the youths have been relegated and shut out of relevance, stressed the need for adequate preparation and active participation by the youths to be able to take leadership positions in different spheres of our national life.

He called on young Nigerians to seek knowledge, embrace discipline, be responsible, volunteer, support and inspire others as a way of building capacity for a leadership that answers current societal questions such as insecurity, corruption and disunity in Nigeria.

He pledged to support the students’ body and inspire more young people to seek leadership positions with a view to building a virile nation.
