Unknown gunmen on Tuesday afternoon kidnapped a legal practitioner, a medical doctor, couples and two others along Itobe-Ajaokuta road while returning from a burial ceremony in the eastern flank of the state.
It was gathered that the victims were Kidnapped at about 2p.m while returning from a burial ceremony that took place at a village near Alloma community in Ofu Local Government Area of the state.
The abductors were said to have inflicted injury on those who escaped being kidnapped.
According to source, the Kidnappers, who laid siege for their victims, pounced on them, shooting sporadically and led to the abduction of seven victims which they (kidnappers) whisk into the bush.
It was also gathered that the abducted medical doctor was returning from Prince Abubakar Audu University, Teaching Hospital, Anyigba, where he went on an official assignment when he was Kidnapped on his way back to Lokoja.
Those that escaped being kidnapped were said to be taken to Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja for medical attention , following injuries they sustained from the kidnappers.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Police Command in the state,SP William Ovye Aya, confirmed the incident in a telephone conversation, saying that seven persons were Kidnapped during the incident, adding that six persons, who were rescued with bullets wounds were taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja for treatment.
