Chachavivi Women and Girl Child Development Foundation, a non governmental organization has called on women to be technologically inclined to meet acceptable standards across the world.
The Executive Director of the Foundation, Halima Oiza Sadiq, who made the call on Wednesday against the backdrop of the 2023 International Women’s Day (IWD), said the foundation is determined for the peace and development of the girl child in Kogi State.
Speaking on the theme for 2023 International Women’s Day, the Executive Director lamented that the girl child has been excluded from digital technology, noting that they should be included in technological advancement.
She pointed out that the cashless policies have affected the women more than their male counterparts, adding that with the knowledge of technology such can be corrected to ease the suffering of women in the country.
“There is a need for women to be technologically inclined to meet the acceptable standard in the world.
“A woman is said to be a beautiful creation of God! It is a fact that all great personalities are born from the woman’s womb and have taken their initial teachings from a woman. And that is why people give due respect to women in their lives” she stated.
His Royal Highness, the Bajana of Obajana, Oba Engr, Idowu Isenibi, commended the NGO for their visit to commemorate the day in his palace and said that Nigeria should brace up to always support women to achieve their goals in life.
The monarch described women as the pacesetter in any nation and urged stakeholders at all levels to ensure that the voice of Women is heard in the world.
Oba Isenibi who reiterated that adequate prayers and commitment will help to salvage the problems ravaging the world today, charged women to champion the course of change in the nation by using their influence to attract development in their respective domain.
Also in his remarks, High Chief Beribada Ibitomola, the Community General Secretary, appreciated the organization for considering the community worthy to educate the people on the importance of women in nations building.
He insisted that the unfavorable policy in the country is hitting more on the women hence the need to educate them towards improving the community and family wellbeing in Nigeria.
He said the waste bin donated to the community is a pointer to development and a means to avoid environmental pollution in the community
At Osarangada in Kogi central senatorial district, the Foundation sensitize the women on the importance of the day and educate them on the theme of the year, digital innovation and technology for gender equality.
The Executive Director urged government and other relevant stakeholders to collaborate with NGOs to help girls child and women in society.
Aishat Omeiza a women leader in the community appealed to the government to look into the issue of naira redesigned policy, insisting that the policy has affected women in the rural areas greatly.
The main purpose of Women’s Day is to celebrate the achievements of women in various fields and the roles they play in nation building. Women day is set aside to celebrate every 8th of March.
