Publisher urges Government to introduce Culture into Educational Curriculum, As Anchor International School Holds 2023 Cultural Day.

The Publisher, the Nigerian Post, Abu Michael has charged
Nigerians to celebrate its cultural diversity and Educational tolerance through curriculum development, teachers’ training and inter school exchanges.

Michael said if Government introduce the study of culture into the educational curriculum especially at both primary and secondary school level, it would enable students have an understanding of the nation’s rich cultural heritage.

The Publisher who doubles as PTA Chairman of Anchor and Chairman at the Cultural Day gave the charge at the occasion of the 2023 Cultural Day Celebration Held at Anchor International School, Lokoja.

According to him , awareness creation through programmes such as cultural days in schools is commendable, noting that when a curriculum is made and culture included, it would direct schools and students in the right way.

He described the theme of the Anchor International School 2023 Cultural Day; Cultural Diversity and Educational Tolerance”, as very apt, noting that Kogi State just like Nigeria, as a melting pot for different people and culture, described Cultural Diversity as a fundamental aspect of human society, contributing to the richness and vibrancy of communities worldwide.

The Chairman of PTA commended Anchor International School for celebrating cultural diversity and tolerance, saying “what the society needs to move forward is to foster inclusiveness and harmonious coexistence.

Earlier in her welcome remarks, Mrs. Helen Mathias, the proprietress, Anchor International School Lokoja, described culture as a precious of humanity that enriches the lives of the people.

Mrs. Mathias who explained that culture contributed to  the world development, urged schools  to collaborate with the Ministry of Education and other relevant agencies to carry out curriculum development, teacher training, awareness campaign, inter school exchanges and research and evaluation.

Highlights of the Cultural Day Celebration was presentation of songs, dance and food by the various cultural to showcase the country’s rich cultural diversity.
