The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Graphic Newspaper Yusuf Jimoh Itopa has appealed for more support from the state government to enable him achieve his vision for the media organization.
YJ Itopa stated this on Tuesday when Kogi Youth Vanguard for Good Governance bestowed an award on him for his exemplary leadership and performance as the Managing Director of the organization.
The Managing Director who said that the award would spur him to do more for the newspaper, thanked the youth organization for identifying the little he has done since he assumed office as the Chief Executive Officer of the Graphic Newspaper.
He thank the management and staff of the newspaper for their cooperation , support and hard work that has brought the newspaper to it’s present status.
He charged Kogi Youth Vanguard for Good Governance to always carry people along in all their activities to enable them achieve the mission and vision of the organization.
The Managing Director expressed appreciation to Kogi State Government for appointing and supporting him to achieve some of his goals, appealing for more support to enable the newspaper move forward.
In his speech , the team leader of the organization Comrade Emmanuel Opeyemi said the choice of Mr YJ Itopa for the award was borne out of their discrete investigation about his leadership style and performance as the Managing Director of Graphic Newspaper.
He described the Managing Director as a leader who believe in inclusivity thereby carrying every body in the organization along in the daily activities of the newspaper.
He said “After our careful assessment of his performance in Graphic Newspaper, we decided to bestow an award on him for his good work and to spur him to do more for this media organization and Kogi state.
“Kogi Youth Vanguard for Good Governance is not a faceless organization. The Director General government house Lokoja Alhaji Oricha Shuaibu is our patron while the Accountant General of State Hajia Habibat Onimuko is also our matron” he stated.
In his goodwill message, Comrade Joshua Maji stated that the award was not given to him because he was the Managing Director , but because his performance has convinced us that with more support from the state government, he can take Graphic Newspaper to a greater height.
“We are ready to join hands with the management to move the organization forward” he said.
Also in her goodwill message , the Director General Kogi State Broadcasting Corporation Hajia Nana Hauwa Yusuf, thank the youth group for finding the Managing Director worthy for recognition.
“As a leader you can not asses yourself , it is the public that asses you and give judgement. We will continue to promote government policies and programmes” she stated
In his remark, the Editor of Graphic Newspaper, Mr James Oyewole thanks the organization for their critical assessment of the Managing Director that qualified him for the award.
“This award is a morale boaster and it will spur us to do more” he stated.
